YMCA Norfolk

Project overview

Through the Lind Trust, Graham purchased the old Royal British Legion building known as Jubilee Hall to donate to the YMCA Norwich.

A further £0.5m was donated towards the refurbishment of the new YMCA centre in Norwich.

Completed in early 2021, the project saw the existing ‘Jubilee Centre’ transformed into an innovative and sustainable multi-purpose hub, designed to bring a committed and community-focussed presence to an under resourced area of the city.

The ambitious project, also supported by other funders including Norfolk County Council, houses YMCA Norfolk’s corporate offices along with Williams’ Kitchen, a café named after YMCA founder George Williams, Explorers Soft Play and an Ofsted registered nursery. The nursery has a focus on encouraging children to be curious and adventurous in their play and learning.

Profits made through the Community Hub will be help YMCA Norfolk continue to reinvest in provisions for the local community such as youth clubs.

Graham Dacre explains: “Young people thrive when they grow up and live in areas where the community is at the heart of their environment.

“Projects such as this provide a focal point for local areas, bringing together people in the best possible way to create a sense of togetherness and positive wellbeing.
