Providing funding for support groups

News

In May 2023, Graham was delighted to support a major conference, focussed on tackling online harms.

The Graham Dacre Foundation has announced its funding of a critical project set to provide support to parents of children affected by online sexual abuse.

In May 2025, the foundation provided funding to Embrace – Child Victims of Crime – a charity dedicating to providing emotional and practical support to children that have been impacted by crime.

The funding will enable the launch of ‘You Are Enough’ Peer support groups, delivered in partnership with Protect Children, a non-profit, non-governmental Helsinki-based organisation working internationally with a dedicated team advocating for the rights of children to be free from sexual violence.

Globally, online child abuse continues to rise, with recent reports showing that 10 cases of abuse are reported every second, and that 300 million+ children under the age of 18 have been affected by online child sexual exploitation and abuse in the last 12 months.*

Sexual violence is one of the most damaging and traumatic adverse childhood experiences, with long-lasting negative effects on victims and their families. Yet recovery is possible through timely, evidence-based interventions and compassionate psychosocial support.

The You Are Enough™ programme offers parents and carers a safe, non-judgemental space to process their own trauma alongside others who truly understand. The programme is overseen by trained facilitators and provides crucial emotional support for those who too often suffer in silence.

Embrace is now accepting referrals from police forces and directly from members of the public. They do not need to be supporting a child to be able to support parents.

Funding from the Graham Dacre Foundation has enabled the provision of the You Are Enough programme in the UK for 12 months.

Jo Procter, Interim Chief Executive of Embrace CVoC, said: “We believe every child deserves to live a happy, healthy life. Sadly, the families we support have endured unimaginable trauma. Our mission is to help children not just survive but thrive—and that includes supporting the adults who care for them. As a result of the generous donation from the Graham Dacre Charitable Foundation, we will be able to help numerous  parents navigate their unimaginable trauma and ensure their children get the long-term parental support they need to heal"

Graham explains: “As a father and a grandfather, the knowledge that so many children are being exploited and traumatised as part of the digital world they live in, horrifies me.

“No child should face the pain and suffering of sexual abuse, in any form, and I am in full support of the huge amount of work underway to tackle this in every possible way.

“The impact of every case is significant, not only on the victims themselves, but on their parents and wider families. For many, they simply don’t know what to do or how to cope, so having the support of professionally facilitated groups which enable them to speak openly and freely about their concerns and their grief, will be life changing.

“It is a pleasure to be able to fund such critical work delivered in partnership with Embrace Child Victims of Crime and Protect Children.”
